Energy Month Conference 2023
To keep everyone informed on the latest developments, the Energy Unit in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure hosted an Energy Conference on Tuesday, November 28, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Marriott Conference Room. The conference theme was “Accelerating St. Kitts and Nevis’ Energy Transition: Keeping All Stakeholders Informed”. The event provided a platform for attendees to learn from each other, discuss their experiences and strategies, and stay updated on the latest advancements.
Objectives
- Provided an overview of current energy policies and initiatives from various government ministries, departments, and institutions.
- Facilitated open dialogue and the exchange of ideas between participants and stakeholders.
- Identified areas of cooperation and collaboration between the various government entities.
- Addressed potential challenges and solutions to current energy policies and initiatives.
- Created a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among participants.
Target Audience
The Energy Conference targeted the following institutions and individuals:
- Government Ministers and Officials:
- Representatives from relevant government ministries and departments, such as the Energy Unit, Department of Environment, Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs and Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP), Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Water Services Department (WSD), Department of Legal Affairs, St. Kitts and Nevis Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), and the Bureau of Standards.
- Industry Professionals:
- Representatives from the energy industry, including energy companies (SKELEC, NEVLEC), renewable energy providers, and energy efficiency experts.
- Academia:
- Teachers and students from secondary and tertiary educational institutions.
- Civil Society:
- Representatives from non-governmental organizations and other civil society organizations working on energy issues.
- Regional Organizations:
- Representatives from regional organizations, such as CCREEE, CARILEC, CDB, ECCB, MRV HUB, and OECS.
- Media:
- Journalists and members of the media covering energy topics.
By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, the conference aimed to foster collaboration and ensure all parties were well-informed about St. Kitts and Nevis’ energy transition.
