Dr. Wayne E. Archibald, Executive Director of Green Solutions International SKN is a visionary, lecturer, and entrepreneur in renewable energy, with more than two decades of extensive experience across Jamaica, St. Kitts, and the wider Caribbean.
Dr. Archibald served as an Assistant Professor of Chemical and Physical Sciences in the College of Science and Math at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) from 2010-2016 and was the founding Director of the Caribbean Green Technology Center at that Institution. During his time there, he was appointed Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University where his research on materials for fuel cells was funded by the National Science Foundation Leadership Development Initiative for young investigators. His collaboration with the Army Research Lab in Aberdeen, Maryland during his tenure at UVI, as a visiting scientist, afforded him the opportunity to have his work used for outreach and educational purposes. He was also a Lecturer at the University of the West Indies.
Additionally, he is a co-author of the Caribbean chapter of the Fourth National Climate Assessment produced by the US Global Change Research Program. His publication, “Islands in the Sun and the Solar Power Deployment Initiative in the US Virgin Islands” was featured on the cover of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) Electrification Magazine (March 2015 issue).
Dr. Archibald obtained his Associate of Science in Physics and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Virgin Islands and completed his Master of Science and Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also completed a one-year post-Doctoral fellowship in Mechanical Engineering at CMU.
Alfonso O’Garro is an accomplished energy service provider with over 20 years of experience as an energy auditor and energy data analytics professional. He holds a Master of Science in Project Management from the University of Liverpool, which equips him to oversee complex energy projects from start to finish. His commitment to professional development is evident through his advanced training in solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies with Solar Energy International, where he earned certificates in “Advanced PV Multimode and Microgrid Design” and “PV System Fundamentals.”
As a member of the US Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), Alfonso stays updated on industry standards and best practices. His role involves leveraging his technical knowledge, project management skills, and data analytics expertise to create resilient energy solutions that reduce reliance on traditional energy sources and optimize cost savings. Clients and colleagues appreciate his analytical approach, attention to detail, and dedication to delivering scalable, sustainable energy solutions.

Kurlyn Merchant is admitted to practice in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, the British Virgin Islands and the Anguilla Circuits of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. She is also a Notary Public in St. Kitts and Nevis. She is known as an astute Attorney who guides clients as she consistently seeks the best outcome possible.
Ms Merchant has practiced in civil and commercial law attending to land and Real Estate matters, corporate disputes, debt recovery, and energy transactional matters. Her clientele includes financial institutions and businesses locally , regionally, politically exposed individuals, high network individuals and families.
Ms. Merchant frequently appears before the Court of Appeal, High Court and the Magistrates Court in the Eastern Caribbean and likewise, has attended to matters before the Commercial Court in the BVI.
Ms. Merchant is the recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship through which she secured expertise in Energy and Natural Resource Law and now stands as one of the few trained specialist in that area in the Eastern Caribbean, competent to navigate in particular the intricacies of renewable energy efforts of various states in the regions.

Cartwright Farrel is a co-principal at Global Engineering Consultancy Services Ltd. (GECS). He is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer by training and he has practiced for over 33 years most of which he spent in the power utility business at various levels. Contributions include leadership roles in Geothermal energy discussions in both islands, wind energy discussions in St. Kitts, the realization of the 2.2 MW wind farm in Nevis and the realization of the 500kW solar farm at the ECCB roundabout in St.Kitts.
He served as Engineer Manager, T&D Manager, Planning Manager, Generation Engineer, General Manager in Nevis Electricity Department and NEVLEC and Chief Executive Officer in SKELEC.
He co-founded GECS as a top-tier energy consulting and engineering company that serves clients in both islands. GECS has installed over 700kW of traditional generation, over 400kW of solar PV and 300kW of storage some of which while partnering with SVG Solartech. GECS has done project management, design, & consulting on a number of large projects in the Federation.
Cartwright Farrell holds an MBA in Management from Manchester Business School. He continues to contribute to the furtherance of energy practices in the two islands especially in Renewable Energy.
While GECS is a company of experienced energy engineers and practitioners theyre are also seeking to advance modern technologies and practices in their operations.
Over 21 years working as a practicing Electrical Engineer. Areas of expertise are wind, solar, geothermal, conventional energy (diesel) production. Worked for NEVLEC at various levels the last being Planning and Development Manager. Lecturer at CFBC in the Electrical and Electronic Programme and presently working for GECS (engineering company) as a senior electrical engineer doing consultancy; energy audits; solar design and installation; residential and commercial design and installation; generator sizing and installation; troubleshooting and such like.
